The Holly Project: A festive fake dating romantic comedy to curl up with this Christmas Kindle Edition
It’s two days 'til Christmas … and she’s on the run.
Holly Driver despises Christmas. She prefers to spend the holidays alone without tinsel or turkey, thank you very much. However, this year, she can't avoid her client’s Christmas party.
But when a drinking game gets out of hand, Holly wakes to a viral TikTok of her antics and she can’t remember a thing. Mortified, she escapes the city and bumps into Bailey, the chef she met at the party, who’s full of festive cheer.
With her train cancelled, Holly reluctantly agrees to spend the night at his family home - only to discover it's Christmas on steroids. Even worse, everyone assumes she’s Bailey’s girlfriend and he doesn’t correct them.
What's he playing at? Is he deliberately trying to annoy her or is there a deeper intention behind his fake dating ruse?
If you like humour, great characters and a sprinkling of spice, you’ll love this funny, fake dating Christmas rom-com. Perfect for fans of Lindsey Kelk and Sophie Kinsella. Pick up your copy of this hilarious, feel-good romantic comedy today!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2024Good story. She hates Christmas. He's full of festive cheer. She's stuck spending the holiday with him and his cheerful family who think the two of them are dating.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2024This is a well written Christmas story about Holly who is not a fan of Christmas. When a TikTok of her anti Christmas rant goes viral she skips town. I like how kind and caring Bailey is, even after Holly deflects his Christmas happiness. I love his big and boisterous family. The story is sweet. It is cute and fun. I think Holly, though, needs to chill out just a bit. I get that she has had it rough, but she needs more compassion for those that enjoy the holiday. 3.5 stars. Thanks to Hidden Gems for a copy.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2023This is the first book I've read by this author and I really enjoyed it. I found the story to be interesting and different. The characters are well developed and they made the book stand out in the best way. Holly is a such a funny but grumpy person who hates Christmas. Bailey is the exact opposite with being over the top about it. They ended up being perfect for each other. There were some poignant moments that made me emotional and moments where I laughed out loud. I look forward to reading more from this author.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2025Holly hates Christmas, so imagine the interaction between her and Bailey, who loves Christmas. An escape from. Virtual post lands her at Bailey's home for Christmas. Fake relationships lead to love. Funny, entertaining, and engaging to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2023Loved this sweet love story about Holly and Bailey.
Holly hates the holidays and has her reasons why. And Bailey loves them. After something incredibly embarrassing happens to Holly she ends up at Bailey's big family Christmas. Where the two really get to know each other.
I really enjoyed their chemistry and I loved Crumpet the dog!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2023I love fake dating rom coms and I love festive books. So that combination drew me to this book. And I liked it, I really liked it! A feel-good story. The journey that Holly makes from grumpy to happy was so good to see. A cute story, well worth your time!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2024I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book was cute, but the inner monologues really threw me off. I don't really see the need to say "(mm tasty)" in parenthesis after Holly ate a cookie, and there were a lot of these parenthetical phrases after Holly did an activity. This book was a almost 4 stars for me, but again the parenthetical actions seemed forced, and not something I needed in a feel good Christmas book.
However, I think the book was quite cute! Holly is a grinch and doesn't really like Christmas due to the fact that she never really had family to celebrate with as she was growing up, and Bailey is a full on Christmas fanatic! In this book we get: a holiday book with an antichristmas female MC and a Christmas fanatic male MC, we also get fake dating, a cute dog (I literally loved every scene with Crumpet), and a forced proximity, one bed trope with a ton of family craziness (just like a typical family)! Overall, this book was short, cute, and enjoyable. If you're looking for Holiday warmth, this is your book!
Thank you Angela and BookSiren for the ARC!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are looking for a cute, Christmasy, grumpy-sunshine romance read, this is for you!
If you are looking for a cute, Christmasy, grumpy-sunshine romance read, this is for you!
Holly is an introvert who hates the commercialism of Christmas, and after getting horribly drunk with a work associate, she discovers that he uploaded a TikTok video of her slating all things Christmas. And the video goes viral! Feeling humiliated and distraught, she decides to flee Edinburgh, only to find herself stranded, and the only person to offer her shelter is Bailey - an extravert, who is the living, breathing embodiment of Christmas.
Holly finds herself caught up in Bailey's family bubble of Christmas joy, and somehow, they all think she is Bailey's girlfriend.
Well, I couldn't put this book down. It was a fun, flowing, easy read, which was perfect to chill with during the run up to Christmas. I loved the complexity to Holly's character and Bailey was just adorable.
I'm really glad I found this book. Just go and read it!

I loved the ending and it was all happing jumps. Amazing read! And definitely read it! I'm a lot like Bailey and my bf is Holly. Funny how things work

4.0 out of 5 stars Festive vs Scrooge
Holly does not like Christmas, in any way shape, or form. But when she makes a drunk video and it goes viral on TikTok, she tries to hide from the festive season until it all dies down. Only she ends up at the most festive family home, with the most festive guy she's ever met.
Bailey and Holly are opposites when it comes to Christmas, but form a fake relationship to help each other out. It was sweet watching them interact and get to know each other. Bailey's family love Christmas and it showed Holly what the season was all about.
I liked that not everything was straightforward and that there were a few bumps in the road from both sides, but they were so cute together.
The epilogue completely suited them both and was super sweet.
- standalone
- reverse grumpy / sunshine
- fake relationship
- one bed

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn’t put it down!
What a fun, cozy holiday read! I read The Holly Project in one night! Couldn’t put it down.
The heat level is fade to black. There is kissing and lots of attraction between these two opposites. It was refreshing that the male lead (Bailey) is the one who is super into Christmas. I loved his family.
The angst/confrontation with the antagonist Lewis was also a good balance for a cozy read. Meaning there’s a lot of big feelings on Holly’s part on what happened with Lewis, but it’s not a catastrophic blow up.
I would have liked Bailey to have gone to bat for Holly a little more, especially since Lewis is his friend. (FYI, Lewis seems like a terrible friend. Not sure why Bailey hangs out with him.) And his girlfriend is a real piece of work.
I can’t wait to read more by Angela Pearse!
